How do I chat with a YouTube video?
Open the Chat tab on Marqly's card on any YouTube watch page and ask questions — answers come straight from the video's transcript. A Marqly Pro feature.
Open the video on YouTube with the Marqly extension installed and switch to the Chat tab on the Marqly card on the watch page. Ask a question in plain language — “what does he say about cold outreach?” — and the answer is generated from the video’s transcript, so it reflects what’s actually said in the video, not a generic guess. Chat with videos is a Marqly Pro feature.
Answers grounded in the transcript
The Chat tab doesn’t answer from general knowledge; it answers from the transcript of the video in front of you. That’s the difference between “AI thinks podcasts usually say X” and “this speaker said X in this episode.” And because the Transcript tab sits right next to Chat, you can verify any answer against the source in seconds.
When chat beats scrubbing
- Long interviews and podcasts — ask whether a topic comes up at all before committing two hours to find out.
- Tutorials — ask for the one step you’re stuck on instead of rewatching from the start.
- Talks and lectures — pin down the claim you half-remember, with the wording the speaker actually used.
The AI Summary tab tells you what the video covers; Chat is for the follow-up questions the summary raises.
What you need
Chat requires Marqly Pro: $48/year (about $4/month billed annually) or $8/month, with a 7-day free trial. See what’s in Marqly free vs Pro for the full breakdown.
