How we test

When a Marqly page says we compared, reviewed or “ranked” tools, this is the process behind that claim. It exists so you can judge our conclusions — and so we can be held to them. If any detail here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it and date the change.

What we actually do before writing

  • We use the real product. Every tool we recommend in a “best of” or comparison is installed and driven through the exact task the article is about — importing a messy bookmark export, clipping a page, searching for something you half-remember. We do not rank a product from its marketing page alone.
  • We test the free tier unless we say otherwise. Most readers start on a free plan, so our headline verdicts are earned on the free tier. Where a conclusion depends on a paid feature, the sentence names the plan.
  • Same inputs across tools. For comparisons we feed each product the same set of URLs and the same saved items, so differences reflect the product rather than what happened to be easy to save that day.

How prices and claims are verified

  • Prices and platform support come from the vendor’s own pricing or product page, checked on a specific date, and shown as “as of <date>”. Competitor data in our comparison pages is reviewed on a dated cycle and we publish the date.
  • Product-shutdown and acquisition facts are cited to the vendor or an official notice, not to rumor round-ups.
  • If we cannot verify a number, we leave it out rather than estimate it.

Independence and how Marqly appears in our own lists

  • Marqly is the product this site is about, so we are not a neutral third party and we won’t pretend to be. That is exactly why we state plainly where a competitor is better: “best for” notes say when you should pick someone else.
  • Marqly is not automatically first in every ranking. A product is placed by how it fits the job the page is solving, and competitor tools lead their own pages.
  • We do not accept payment for placement, and a listed tool’s rank does not change because a vendor contacted us. There are no affiliate links in our editorial rankings.

Ratings and reviews

We do not publish star ratings for our own product in structured data, and we do not fabricate aggregate scores. When we mention a store rating we tie it to the store, the platform and a date. Review claims about other tools are summarised from hands-on use and named public sources, not invented.

Updates, corrections and dates

  • Every editorial page carries a visible “Updated” date that matches the page’s structured-data dateModified. We change that date only when the substance changes — not to chase search results.
  • Factual corrections are free and fast. Email support@marqly.comwith the page and the wrong detail; if it is genuinely wrong we fix it and note the change.

What this page does not promise

We do not run a laboratory with a fixed panel of reviewers or publish raw benchmark datasets for every article. Where a page does cite a measured test (for example our AI retrieval benchmark), the page links the method and results directly, so that claim is backed by the test rather than by this generic policy.
