Does Marqly work offline?

No. Marqly needs an internet connection — there is no offline reading mode. Your bookmarks, highlights, and summaries live in your Marqly account, so saving a page, running a search, or opening your library all happen online. The trade-off works in your favor the rest of the time: everything you save is accessible from any signed-in device — the browser extension, the web app, or the iOS app.

What needs a connection

Every core Marqly feature talks to your account: one-click saving from the toolbar, AI auto-tagging, AI summaries, semantic search, and chatting with your saves. If your connection drops, you won’t be able to pull up a saved article or search your library until you’re back online.

We’d rather say that plainly than let you find out on a plane. If guaranteed offline reading is your top requirement, Marqly isn’t built for that today — and we don’t claim otherwise.

What you get instead

Because your library lives in your account rather than on one device, nothing is trapped in a single browser profile. Save an article from Chrome at your desk, and it’s already in the web app and on your iPhone. There’s no sync button to press and no local database to back up. If you need a permanent local copy

For pages you want to keep regardless of connectivity, use Marqly’s save-as-PDF feature: it captures any page as a clean PDF that matches the on-screen layout, including lazy-loaded images, and the capture is processed locally in your browser. The resulting PDF is a regular file — store it wherever you like and open it with no connection at all. Details in how do I save a page as PDF.
