Does Marqly work offline?

Yes — with a Pro plan, in the web app and the iOS app. Marking a bookmark “Save Offline” caches its clean article copy on that device, so it opens on a plane, a subway, or anywhere the signal dies. Everything else about Marqly stays online: saving new links, searching the library, and the AI features all need a connection.

Exactly what works offline

• Cached articles, on the device where you cached them. Open the saved page and its reader view comes from the local cache — no network required.
• A “Saved Offline” view in the library shows what is genuinely available on this device right now, and search inside that view only matches what is truly cached.
• Settings shows the cache size so you can cap it and clear it when you’re done.

The honest limits

• It’s a per-device cache, not a synced offline library. Nothing is stored offline on Marqly’s servers, and marking a page for offline on your laptop doesn’t download it to your phone. Each device keeps its own copies.
• Videos are not cached, and big pages can be skipped — images over 2 MB and pages over 5 MB may not make it into the cache.
• The free plan has no offline reading — it’s one of the Pro features, like auto-tagging, summaries, and semantic search.
• The Android app doesn’t do article downloads yet. On an Android device, the web app’s offline cache is the way to read saves without a connection.
• This isn’t an offline-first reader. Instapaper, Matter, and Wallabag sync an entire reading queue to your devices automatically; Marqly caches the pages you choose. If guaranteed auto-download of your whole backlog is your core habit, weigh that difference before switching.

Why the library itself stays online

Because your bookmarks, highlights, and summaries live in your account, nothing is trapped in a single browser profile. If you need a permanent local copy

Offline cache entries live on the device — clear them, wipe the device, or let the plan lapse, and they’re gone. For keepsakes, use Marqly’s save-as-PDF feature: it captures any page as a clean PDF matching the on-screen layout, processed locally in Chrome and Edge.
