What happens when I cancel Marqly Pro?

When you cancel Marqly Pro, your account moves to the free plan at the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for. Nothing is deleted — every save, tag, and highlight stays in your account exactly as you left it. What changes is the AI: semantic search, auto-tagging and summaries on new saves, asking AI about your saves, and chatting with YouTube videos all switch off until you subscribe again. Your bookmarks do not go anywhere — you can still open, browse and keyword-search every one of them. Saving, boards, highlights and read mode keep working.

A note on trials

Marqly no longer offers a free trial of Pro — trials were retired in September 2026. Pro is billed from the moment you upgrade, and you can cancel at any time. What you keep on the free plan

The free plan is the foundation of the product, not a locked-out shell. After canceling you can still:

• Save links from your browser with one click
• File them into boards, highlight what matters, and share boards publicly
• Find anything you’ve saved with keyword search

Everything you saved on Pro stays readable and keyword-searchable, including any library you imported while subscribed. The free plan holds up to 100 bookmarks and hides none of them. If you are above 100, everything you already saved stays readable — that ceiling limits new saves, not access to old ones. What you lose is the AI layer on top: searching by meaning rather than keyword, and asking questions of your own saves.

What switches off

The Pro capabilities stop: semantic search, auto-tagging and summaries on new saves, asking questions answered from your saved content, connected apps over MCP, and chatting with YouTube videos via their transcripts. The free vs Pro breakdown covers exactly where the line sits.

Timing

Cancellation takes effect when your paid period ends, not the moment you click cancel. Cancel an annual plan in month 3 and you keep Pro through month 12; cancel a monthly plan and you keep it until the next renewal date. The steps are in how do I cancel my subscription.

If you come back

Re-upgrade from your account at app.marqly.com whenever you like. Your library is right where you left it, and the AI features pick up against your existing saves — you don’t start over. Annual billing at $72/yr is about 33% less than paying $9 monthly, and the homepage pricing section always has current numbers.

No dark patterns

Signing up for the free plan requires no card at all, so there’s no silent auto-charge trap waiting for people who only wanted to look around.
