How do I use the side panel?

On Chrome and Edge, Marqly's side panel opens bookmarks, Clipboard, Highlights, and AI Chats beside the current page without switching tabs.

On Chrome and Microsoft Edge, open Marqly’s side panel and the extension appears alongside the page you’re viewing. Switch between Bookmarks, Clipboard, Highlights, and AI Chats without leaving the current tab or losing your place. Firefox uses the extension interface instead of Chrome’s side-panel API, and Safari does not currently have the side panel.

Your library without the tab switch

The moment the side panel is built for: you’re reading something new and remember you saved a related piece. Normally that means a new tab, a hunt through the library, and a lost train of thought. With the side panel, the library slides in next to the article — you check the saved piece, compare, and keep reading where you left off.

Four workspaces beside the page

  • Bookmarks — browse boards and tags or pull up a saved page.
  • Clipboard — find copied webpage text, favorites, pins, and tagged snippets.
  • Highlights — revisit highlighted passages and notes.
  • AI Chats — open conversations saved from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.

Search from wherever you are

Search in the side panel works the way Marqly search works everywhere: by meaning, not just keywords. Describe what you remember — “the post about email deliverability” — and the save comes back even if its title says something entirely different. For the full picture of what that search can do, see how to search bookmarks with AI.

When it earns its place

  • Research sessions — keep your gathered sources in view while you work through a new one.
  • Writing — pull up the article you’re citing without burying your draft under tabs.
  • Fact-checking yourself — “didn’t I save something that contradicts this?” is now a five-second question.

The side panel ships with the Chrome and Edge extensions. Install it for Chrome, get the Edge version from Microsoft Edge Add-ons, or see the complete browser feature table.
